Becoming a leader

It’s interesting. Over the past few years, I seem to find myself in positions of leadership. It’s not something that I had set out to become, and I feel that I am a bit of an nontraditional leader. For one thing, I am quite the introvert. However, it is wonderful to have these opportunities and to know that my principal believes in me.

As I was sitting in a meeting yesterday, we were discussing what things are most important to being a leader. My group focused in on communication, but we also noted how important it is to be optimistic. If we are positive about new ideas and change, hopefully others will be as well. And if I am one thing, it’s a dreamer. I love to envision future possibilities. Maybe that is my strength as a leader.

What qualities do you think are important to lead?
