Brainstorming #edSketch – will you join me?

Last year I took up the challenge to complete a sketchbook as part of the Sketchbook Project 2012. I found out about it through one of the fabulous members of my PLN: Malyn Mawby. It was a fantastic endeavor, and I found nurturing my creative side helped me as an educator.

I plan on participating again this year, and I was wondering if you would join me.

What – you say you’re not an artist?

That’s okay! This year’s themes allow for a variety of interpretations with ideas like

  • Travelogue
  • Memoir
  •  Narrative
  • Atlas
  • and Diagrams.

Do you teach science? Why not create a logbook of experiments for the Sketchbook Project? Language arts? How about a sketchbook of short stories? Social studies? Why not gather clippings from your favorite maps and create collages? Math? Could you draw pictures with numbers?

It’s another way to stretch and grow, and I would love to see a community of educators do this together this year. We could talk about it on Twitter using the hashtag #edSketch. You could also blog your journey along the way (like here and here). When you’re done, you’ll send in your sketchbook and share it with a larger audience as it goes on a US tour.

So will you join me? You can find out more information about the Sketchbook Project 2013 here. They also offer groups discounts (off the standard fee of $25 – if you’re interested, let me know so we can get a group together). It will be a new way to grow together as educators. Take the challenge – you’ll grow in ways you never could have imaged! What are you waiting for?!

    1. Kris, So excited you want to join us! Like Denise said, if you can fill in the form on the link she provided, I’ll make sure you get the discount code. I should be sending that out early in the week.
